Winchester Rotary Swimathon 2010
On Saturday 20th February, Winchester Rotary Club hosted the Winchester Swimathon 2010 at St Swithuns
School. Wessex Swim School entered 2 teams, a pupils team and teachers team. The Swimathon was a 55 minute relay where teams can only have one swimmer in the water at a time. Money is being raised for four local charities via the Rotary Club. For more information please visit their website.
The pupils team was made up of Sam Wilkinson, Niamh Wilkinson, Aaron and Karan Chadda, Hannah and Lucy Welby and Alex Brown. The team were absolutely amazing and swam an impressive 112 lengths. The teachers team was made up of Chris, Ayla, Carol, Mario and our newest teacher Cat. The teachers were pushed hard by the pupils, and Sam who was originally taught by Chris, flew down the pool on butterfly frequently beating the teachers who were going all out on front crawl! The teachers pulled in 169 lengths beating their target of 165 from last years event.
Overall the teams did extremely well and the teachers were only just beaten by Penguins Swim Club and Peter Symonds Students team. If you want to take part next year watch this space!
